Video marketing has been gaining popularity over the recent years and stats tell us that it’s only getting bigger and for good reason. In a recent study, 72% of businesses said that using video has actually improved their conversion rate and 52% of consumers said that watching a video on a product or service made them feel more confident in making a purchasing decision. So it’s for these reasons and more that we highly recommend you finally start using videos in your business.
But here’s the thing, it’s not enough to make any video. There are a few kinds of videos that stand out and will gain you the traction you want online. So what are these video types?
Tell Your Customers a Story
Use video to tell a story with your business as the guide. A few years ago when video marketing first started trending, many businesses jumped onto it without thinking too much into the strategy behind what they put out. Most businesses would tell their own story, how they got started, why they got started and what makes them so great as a business. Now that we’ve had time to live with this approach we’re starting to see how little it actually works. We now know that we shouldn’t be telling our story but our customer’s story and how our business can act as their guide in getting them from point A to B
So by making a really simple 60-second video, and that’s really how long it has to be. We talk about what our customer wants, what’s standing in their way, how we can fix their problem and the potential amazing outcome waiting for them on the other side of the video.
Emphasise People Over Business
People love authenticity in all forms! They would rather see your business for the people that make it up. So it’s time to drop the “over-polished and over-bearing” videos and get a little more real with your consumers (Note: Of course this is completely based on industry and some industries would require a certain level of professionalism so this is something to keep in mind when finding the balance between personality and professionalism).
So how do you do this though? Basically what we recommend is when communicating through your video, do it as though you’re speaking to a friend as compared to a faceless audience of customers. Keep it simple. Script your videos more like the way you would speak. Don’t focus too much on grammar and avoid using bigger words than are necessary.
The bottom line is to connect and engage. People are more likely to work or buy from people they like rather than stuffy businesses.
